Cobblestone Farm Wedding in Ann Arbor

I am fortunate enough to have known Jessica for several years prior to shooting her wedding. We are both teachers who deeply care about our kids (aka our students), enjoy a good beer, and laughing at any occasion that remotely calls for it. In short, Jessica was the perfect bride: fun, laid-back, and excited to marry an equal compliment to her. When we met to talk about their day, Jessica told me they would be having a Cobble stone Farm wedding in Ann Arbor. I used to drive by Cobblestone Farm everyday and always thought it would be the perfect place for a quaint and intimate wedding. With Jessica and Mike, I got the opportunity to document just that.

While Jessica got ready nearby, I found Cobblestone Farm to be the perfect spot to photograph portraits of the bride, groom, and the wedding party. Jessica and Mike didn’t do a first look, but that didn’t stop us from photographing them before the ceremony, allowing them to spend plenty of time with their guests afterwards.

It didn’t take long before Jessica’s infectious laugh began to take over the moments. Everyone naturally joined in.

Jessica has two wonderful and beautiful sisters, Melissa and Olivia, who partook in the wedding as well. Olivia had the responsibility to marrying Jessica and Mike later in the day.

With Mike arriving to his Cobblestone Farm wedding soon, Jessica hid and Mike got ready with the help of his dad.

With all of the prep done and guests starting to arrive, it was time for Jessica and Mike’s Cobblestone Farm wedding to begin.

Jessica and Mike wrote their own vows, which were both touching and heartfelt.

It also wouldn’t be their wedding if there wasn’t some sort of spontaneous laughter between the two of them. This is what I love about couples like them; don’t take life so seriously and just laugh when you can, especially if it is at yourself.

Following the ceremony, we took all of their formals on the grounds of Cobblestone Farm. I love it when venues offer enough variety of backgrounds for this. It makes all of the photos aesthetically cohesive and keeps the couple near their guests and party.

I love this photo of Jessica. So warm and inviting. The red shed is the perfect contrast to her white dress and compliments her soft demeanor.

Funny story, as we were setting up and taking the photo below, I placed Jessica’s bouquet in between the slots of the fence. I wanted to subtly include her wedding ring in a few shots. As were were shooting, I heard a little commotion to my left, only to find that the bouquet attracted a local to the farm…

With the formals of Jessica and Mike done, it was time to head inside to their Cobblestone Farm wedding reception. Cake was cut, speeches were given, embarrassing stories were told, and finally dancing began.

The dance floor was packed the entire evening. Luckily, Jessica and Mike were willing to take a break so we could get one last shot to tell the story of their night.
