Our goal for each wedding is to not only create beautiful art, but to capture your day, your personalities, and your love in a candid, authentic, and emotional way.
"Brian was worth every penny, without a doubt. From the moment we met Brian, we knew he was the right choice. He was professional, courteous and genuine. He has a way about him that makes you feel comfortable and like you have know him for years. The wedding day couldn't have been better. Brian has a way of being present without noticing him. Our photos are incredible! I have certainly missed several hours of work due to sneaking peeks at our photos. Brian captured all the shots we wanted and more. Brian is an extraordinary photographer and an even better guy. You don't meet many people as kind, talented and real as Brian. "
"I knew I wanted Brian to be my wedding photographer before I knew who I wanted to marry! I’m not exaggerating when I say he probably spent upwards of 20 hours just getting to know us and helping us from setting up a timeline for the day of, to recommending other great vendors he was there for guidance. The time he invested into us before our wedding made us certain that he wanted the best for our big day as well...His artwork is timeless, elegant and classic. Brian can’t tell you he’s the best because he’s humble…but I can! He is worth it! Book BTW and you will not regret it!
"Immediately after seeing his work, we called him and booked him—we actually moved the wedding up a week so that we could fit into his schedule, as it was only 8 months in advance. I cannot stress enough that Brian’s services are worth every penny, if not more. Looking back at the level of professionalism and the quality of the photos, if I could do it again and had to pay more, I would. Brian is a complete professional. Immediately after contacting him, he requested to meet with us to learn about who we are and what we envisioned for our wedding day."
"Brian was everything we hoped for in our wedding photographer. My husband and I live in Chicago, and when we initially reached out to Brian, he spent more than an hour chatting with us via Facetime. When we went back to Michigan to look at our Church and reception venue for the first time, he spent the entire afternoon getting to know us as we walked both venues together. He always made us feel as though we were his priority and ensured he understood what we were looking for in our wedding photos."
"Our portfolio is amazing! Tyler has to keep telling me to stop looking at all the photos. I can't thank you enough for all your hard work. You have such a natural talent and I will never forget how you calmed me down when I was having a breakdown and truly helped the day run smoothly and you did it all with ease!! Thanks for capturing Jenna [sister] and my special moment. I will cherish all these memories forever. I can't thank you enough for that or tell you how much I appreciate you!
"When we met with Brian for the first time we knew instantly that we wanted him to be our photographer. Brian not only makes you feel comfortable, but he makes taking photos FUN! This is huge considering my husband HATES having his picture taken. We LOVE our photos. We got married in an old catholic church in Detroit and the photos that Brian took truly captured the beauty of the church. Not only is his work amazing, but he was able to keep our 22 person wedding party focused during photos and took AMAZING pictures."
"Brian was an absolute joy to work with. We had a small backyard style wedding, and he not only took absolutely stunning photographs, he also helped make sure we didn't miss any key photo opportunities (he really went above and beyond). I highly recommend BTW to anyone looking for a photographer, and especially anyone who loves those perfect candid shots!! We couldn't be happier with the results!"
"Future Brides & Grooms

"By the time it came for our wedding day, it felt like Brian was an old friend, which helped in creating some amazing wedding photos . We were so comfortable around him and in turn our bridal party was also comfortable, making for an enjoyable picture taking experience. My husband and I truly believe that Brian was worth every penny. He helped make our wedding day the best day ever. Even our guests were raving about him and his photos by the end of the night. Brides and grooms, I cannot stress enough, consider BTW Photography for your big day!"
"Brian, Thank you is the least we could say. You were a lifesaver for both Brooke and I. I really appreciated your help throughout our wedding day and we were both so relaxed with you. It was a pleasure getting to know you and your work. The way our pictures came out were above our expectations. We love them so much! We will be following you on Instagram and singing your praises."
"I cannot recommend Brian enough and have received SO many compliments on our engagement and wedding photos. He is so quick to respond and so wonderful to work with. We planned from Boston and he was very flexible and willing to work with us and our schedule. We were married on May 14th and we already received our photos [two weeks later.] Just by looking at them, I can feel every emotion I felt that day! He is nothing short of amazing."
"We knew at the beginning of our first meeting with Brian that we wanted him to be our photographer! He brings a level of professionalism that is rarely seen. Whether it was showing up an hour early to scout locations best suited to shoot, or making it a priority to learn the names of our entire bridal party. Brian was a first class photographer from start to finish. We loved all of our photos (engagement session & wedding) and received nothing but good comments on his amazing work from numerous guests. We would recommend Brian to anyone for any occasion!!"
"We used Brian for our wedding in Ann Arbor. We live in Seattle so all of our interactions with Brian before the wedding were done over the phone. He was very flexible to work with us, the time difference, and prompt in answering all of my questions before the wedding (and there were many!). As other reviews say, Brian is very detailed and has great customer service. He did many things throughout the planning process that added just an extra touch. We especially appreciated the quick turn around time for our wedding photos- we received them while still on our honeymoon."
"I feel so fortunate that I decided to go with BTW Photography for my wedding photography. Brian was easy going but at the same time professional. He takes his time with you and appears to love what he is doing. Brian went out of his way to scout out our "first look" location and he couldn't have picked a better spot. Our pictures are unique to any others and I am in love with them. He has a classic, timeless style. BTW Photography is worth the money and I would recommend him to anyone!"
"I would highly recommend Brian. The experience was unforgettable and the pictures are stunning. He goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable, special, and relaxed at all times. Brian is one of the nicest guys my husband and I have ever met; so it was enjoyable spending time with him. The ability to be personable as well as highly professional is a skill Brian has mastered. His skill and artistic eye behind the camera is exceptional and I believe that is what sets him apart from many. He pays close attention to everything and goes above and beyond. I would hire him again in a heartbeat!"
"From our first meeting we knew that he was the perfect fit for us - passionate and creative but also very organized and methodical. Having extremely large extended families, we needed someone that would take charge and make sure we got the shots we wanted and Brian certainly delivered. "
Ten years ago, I found myself burnt out. Teaching high school, finishing up my masters degree, and working as a graduate assistant meant long hours, little sleep, and a slow death to my creative soul. As I clicked "submit" on my last paper, I was proud but also empty. I just ran a race that I didn't really care about. My life lacked the important things in life. It was that moment I decided to dedicate my life to documenting life's greatest moments and stories through the lens of a camera. As they say, the rest if history. If you want the long version, let's grab a coffee and share stories. After all, isn't that the best part of life, relationships?
Growing up, I hated reading. One of my favorite things to do was look at my aunt's collection of National Geographic magazines. The photos allowed my imagination to run wild. Honestly, this curiosity with photography would influence me for years.
In addition to being a photographer, I am also a high school teacher. I could give it up, as photography keeps me busy enough, but I find helping kids rise to their potential to be very rewarding. I keep in touch with a lot of my former students and am always proud to see what they are accomplishing.
I spent a year living in Poland when I was twelve years old. It was right after the fall of communism and the country lacked many forms of western comfort. To help keep me occupied, my parents would give me a roll of film as a souvenir when we traveled. I even have a letter I wrote to my grandma from this time stating that I was going to be a photographer when I grew up.
I also lived in Rome, Italy and documented my time there on black & white film. Those images are among some of my favorites I have ever taken. Not because they are the best, but because it was the first time I told stories through my lens. Looking at those photos brings me right back.
I am currently engaged to my high school sweetheart. It has been a long journey, but it has totally been worth it. Nothing makes me as happy as making her laugh. I knew she was the one when we tangoed through the aisles of Pier One on one of our first dates. We were later asked to leave!
Things I love:
- My dogs
- Time with friends
- Rock climbing
- Travelling, especially adventures
- The perfect coffee to cream ratio
We know that wedding photos are one of the most important decisions on your wedding day. Afterall, it is one of the only things you get to keep after it is all over. It is how you will remember and relive your day for years to come. That is why we feel honored to work with the couples we do and promise to treat your wedding as our own, giving it the attention it deserves. Our goal is to not only deliver beautiful images, but an excellent and memorable experience for you throughout the entire process. From the first email to the final delivery, our goal is to be your wedding advocate and resource.
How do you approach your work?
My approach to shooting your wedding is borderline philosophical. I never want my presence to be felt in an image. I strive to maintain the authenticity of the moment and the present emotion. I see myself as a storyteller and artistic director who documents and enhances the moments of your day.
How do you define your style?
First, I decide whether the moment calls for me to document and shoot candids or to direct and create art. Documenting is all about capturing emotions uninterrupted. When I create art, I shoot for elegance, emotion, and timelessness.
We love your work and are interested in working with you. What's next?
First, thank you! Even being considered with the responsibility to shoot a wedding is an honor. What is next is we meet, talk about your vision for your wedding, and create a package that meets your needs. If you are from out of town, we schedule a Skype session and go from there.
How far in advance do we need to book you? What do we need to book you?
Most couples book me right after they know their wedding date. I have had some couples book me two years in advance! I ask for 50% non-refundable retainer to hold your date.
What comes in your packages?
Each wedding is unique, which is why with each wedding I spend time planning and scouting locations prior to the day. Most couples receive 8-10 hours of coverage, and edited portfolio of digital images, the print rights, plus some extra goodies, like an album, engagement session, Signature Guest book, and more.
How much does the typical couple spend on photography with you?
I offer customized collections for all of my clients; however, most couples spend between $4,000 - $6,000 on their collections and receive everything from an engagement session, wedding day coverage, and a custom-designed album.
Do you have a studio?
Yes! I have an office space in Royal Oak where I meet clients. Here, we can comfortably discuss your wedding over champagne to celebrate the occasion. The space is also shared with a wedding planner so all of your questions can easily be answered.
Besides your website, can where can we see your work or learn more about you?
Unlike some photographers who only show you their portfolios, I encourage couples to look at entire weddings to see my style and consistency. Also, many of my couples have become my close friends. If you would like to talk with any of them or have questions about a specific venue, I am happy to put you in contact.
We'll get back with you shortly.
